Meet Dawn Brown
Dawn and her Lifegroup - Dawn is in the front row, second from the right.
1. Where were you born and raised? I was
born in Denver, Colorado. My father’s family is originally
from Colorado, but my parents moved back to Ohio when I was
a toddler. Although I grew up in Springfield, I call New
Carlisle home because I spent a lot of time here with my
maternal grandparents.
2. How did you come to LACC? Dave and I
originally came to LACC in 1998. We were looking for a
church in our community that was honest and in God’s Word.
We didn’t know anyone here but though a small group and
Sunday school we soon found a home. Although we were called
away for a season, we loved the church and knew that it was
a healthy place to worship.
3. How long have you been here? Since early
2006.
4. What are three of your most favorite things to
do? Outdoors: Camping and canoeing. Indoors:
Sewing, painting and cooking (when I have time and
especially when I don’t have to clean up after myself). But
my passion is to study and share God’s Word whenever the
opportunity arises.
5. What is your favorite movie? Why? Sorry
I can’t limit my favorites to just one…It may sound silly,
but my favorite classic movie is the original Willy Wonka’s
Chocolate Factory…I just have fond memories of this movie
and an elementary teacher reading the book, I love the music
too. Favorite comedy is Oh Brother Where Art Thou…I love the
characters and the music. Finally, my favorite 21st century
movie…Pirates of the Caribbean, Curse of the Black
Pearl…characters and of course the music.
6. What has been an especially important scripture
to you? Why? James 1:2-4 “My brethren, count it all
joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing [this],
that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let
patience have [her] perfect work, that ye may be perfect and
entire, wanting nothing.” This is one of the scriptures that
kept me through my early Christian days/years, and still
does. Most people don’t know that Dave and I came out of a
pretty destructive life style over 15 years ago. Those days
were not easy but God was truly faithful when He called us
out. Like in our studies last month, Jesus is the “Author
and Finisher (Perfecter) of our Faith. He taught us how to
trust Him. I know this particular scripture is quoted
frequently (and sometimes casually) but that does not
diminish the effectiveness of God’s Word.
7. What was one of the most significant events in
your spiritual life? Receiving salvation and the
indwelling of His Spirit.
8. What do you fear most? Rejection
9. Say something that you’ve learned from being at
LACC. GRACE!
10. What is one of your goals personally or for LACC
in “overflowing” in love as Christ calls us to?
Drawing closer to Christ, so that the Overflow comes from
Him not from me.
